First half tries from Lawrence Donaldson, Tryson Goodchild and prop Peter Balachenko saw Eton Manor race to 24-3 half time score. It was a half that they totally dominated in both forward and backs play and seemed to score at ease from all areas of the pitch.
However they got a short sharp shock in the second half when a spirited Harpenden side scored three tries in 10 minutes to peg the score back to 24-22. It was a position that in years gone by would have seen the Eton Manor side crumble. However there is deep character within this side with a steely determination to succeed. Despite being down to 14 men for most of the second half they managed to get back into the game and an excellent try from James Wilcocks and a late Callum McKie try to take his game tally up to 16 points, saw the away side take the two points.
Coach Mark Cuschieri said "All credit must go to Harpenden who looked dead and buried at half time. At half time we were looking at a big score and it just shows how momentum and confidence can turn a game around so quickly. However we had the nerve and determination to see off the job. We set ourselves the target of picking up maximum points over the last 5 games and have three more games to go. The boys have progressed throughout the season and certain players have improved every game. Rochford away will be another challenge but they all seem to be well up for this, especially after they beat us at home after the Manor being 20 points up. There is definitely some unfinished business and with a full squad to choose from training should be very interesting again this week".
