for the ETM U7's A Brief Summary of the TAG RUGBY Rules

A Brief Summary of the Rules …..

 Played in Teams of 4-A-Side.

 Played over two 10 Minute Halves. (Changing ends for the second half)

 In tagging a player there is no physical contact, no grabbing or fending off.

 No kicking of the ball.

 Only way to avoid being Tagged is to run faster and to dodge and weave or to pass before the tag is removed.

 To score the player must carry the ball in two hands and ground the ball over the Try Line with two hands (No Diving allowed).

 Each Try Scores 1 Point.

 The game starts at the centre of the pitch with a free pass. The passer and player must be within 2 metres of each other. They must pass rather than hand the ball over. The opposing team must be 7 m back.

 The team in possession then attacks the opposing team’s Try Line to score. While the opposing team defend them by trying to tag the player with the ball.

 Only one Tag needs to be removed and the Tagger is required to hold up the Tag and shout Tag so the Ref can see. The Tagger should then hand the Tag back to the player as quickly as possible and retreat to allow play to resume.

 The attacking team must pass backwards at all times.

 If a player is tagged whilst in possession of the ball then they have the time to stop and pass to another member of their team. (Generally they should stop within 3 strides and pass within 3 seconds of being tagged).

 In play the possession is lost if the attacking team pass the ball forwards, or knock it on, or run out of touch, commit an infringement, or take too long to pass the ball when tagged.

 During play the game re-starts with a free-pass to the other team. Where the event has occurred, and the team that have lost possession must retreat 7m to allow the free pass to take place.

 Play re-starts on the centre line after a Try has been scored and at the start of each half.
